1) Year-End Awards: This year we will have a mandatory fee of $100.00 per rider/per horse for awards. You can get a sponsor for that money, pay it yourself upfront no later then NBHA State Finals, April 7, 2013. Any members that do not pay the fee for awards will not be eligible for year-end awards. If you are riding multiple horses, and wish to earn awards on each horse, you must pay the $100.00 per horse; otherwise awards will go to the highest pointed horse. ATTENDANCE RULE: In order to be eligible to receive 2013 NBHA AZ-06 district and/or year-end awards, a member in good standing must compete in a minimum of ten (10) shows (or three/fourths of the scheduled shows completed) through the 2013 show season. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Our goal is to get saddles for each class, but only if we get enough money to pay for them. ALL YEAR-END AWARDS WILL BE DETERMINED ON WHAT THAT CLASS BRINGS IN ALL YEAR.2) All Members must declare by October 1st, 2013 which class you are getting awards for if you are eligible in more than one class. Once a rider has declared their choice, the next rider in the points for that class will move up. We are not a large District and Sponsorship money is getting harder. We would like to be able o have all of our members earn year end awards.
3) Points will be given to the top five riders in each race in each class. District points are in a 5,4,3,2,1 format. Per NBHA rules, we will only count members in the AZ06 District. Therefore, whichever Member in our District runs the fastest time, this will set our 1D fast time, regardless of other riders entered, and the placing’s for points will go from that time. We will post current point standings on our website as well as send them via email, so make sure we have a current email address. Additionally, we need every member’s social security number for payouts. Please check that we have yours in the computer. For Tax purposes, we will no longer issue checks to anyone who doesn’t have their social security number on file.
4) We will award participation points. Members will receive one point for every show they enter. At the end of the year the points will be added to the division that you hold the most points in. This will help in breaking ties. Points will be applied one time, to the person, not on how many horses you enter. There will be one point per show. (if you enter 10 shows you have 10 points, if you enter all 18 shows you have 18 points)
5) Awards will be given to the top 5 riders in each division in the district point standings at the end of the year. If there are 5 eligible riders. The top five division winners will also qualify for a spot at the National and World finals. For our district, you can receive awards in each class, but only in one division per entry (the division in which you declare) i.e. Youth and Open or Open and Senior. No one person will be allowed to win more than one saddle per year. Multiple horse riders: Our District points will be based on your highest pointed horse; this is a horse/rider combination. However, if you replace a horse or chose to ride a different horse in each show, the points will stay with the rider. If you ride multiple horses in one show on a regular basis or consistently ride one horse and always ride a second horse, this will count as multiple horses. Riders with multiple entries that fall in the same division can only receive points on the highest placing in that division. A rider will not be able to double up on points in the same division at the same show. To be eligible for awards at State Finals you must have attended 3 shows in our district before December 31, 2012.
6) Youth Class for National Points will be in two separate classes (1) Teen 13-18 (2) Youth 1 – 12. This year we will be adding a Novice Youth Class for District Points only. In order to participate in the Novice Youth class you must meet at least one of the following criteria:A) Rider cannot have more than 5 years of competitive barrel racing experience. B) Novice horse must not have earned over $5000.00 in barrel racing on any level, regardless of ownership.
****No rider in the Novice Youth class can run on the same horse in the Open Youth. ****7) Arena Rules: Open arena is typically not permitted for riders prior to the start of any NBHA event...this is to allow the arena crew to set-up, stake the barrels and work the ground prior to the event. ALSO, no one is allowed to be in the arena with their horse while the tractor is running in the arena...this is both an issue with safety and insurance. Warming up/riding in areas outside the primary arena is allowed but please walk your horses unless you are in the warm-up arena. Additionally, we can not have another rider in the arena while someone is running. If you make a run while there is another horse/rider in the arena you will be disqualified - NO EXCEPTIONS! A parent may be in the arena with their YOUTH runner but on the ground - not on a horse! We will strictly enforce the “GATE CALL” in 2013. You will have 3 Gate Calls, if you are not at the gate, your run will be forfeited. Make sure you know where you run in the draw and be ready. If you request a late run, we will try and get you in the bottom of the draw, otherwise no exceptions.
8) All NBHA members are charged with conducting themselves in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. Any disruptive behavior by an NBHA member or non-member, their family members or guardian or guests may lead to removal from the premises. NBHA members are subject to being put on notice, suspension or being banned from NBHA. We will not tolerate any foul language or “bashing” of other members at any level, which will include any social media.9) Look at your current card!! Membership expires one year from the date you joined the NBHA (the last day of that month). DO NOT let your membership expire over 30 days because you will lose all points earned that year.
